Classrooms: Locations, Software

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) supports more than 400 classrooms, conference rooms, labs and ballrooms in more than 70 buildings on campus. Classrooms are divided into four types based on technologies, standard configurations, funding models, and service level targets for incident resolution and response fulfillment.

Classroom Type A: Provost-Funded

  • standardized media and workstation equipment with a standardized Crestron panel configuration and programming
  • spare media and workstation equipment for near-immediate swaps exist
  • scheduled by Registration and Records for academic courses, meetings and events in 25Live
  • desk phone in classroom directly dials DoIT support staff

Classroom Type B

  • instructor workstation and media equipment are present, but the configuration is either non-standard or out-of-warranty
  • spare parts may not be available
  • may be scheduled by college, department, or Registration and Records for academic courses, not necessarily using 25Live
  • generally an administrator or IT technical professional reports an incident

Classroom Type C

  • no instructor workstation is present and media equipment is generally a ceiling projector and perhaps some stand-alone media players; the configuration may be non-standard or out-of-warranty
  • spare parts may not be available
  • may be scheduled by college, department, or Registration and Records for academic courses, not necessarily using 25Live
  • generally an administrator or IT technical professional reports an incident
