The Huskie Conversation Café podcast explores critical and topical themes in the book, "When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir", by Patrisse Khan-Cullors and Asha Bandele. Through guided discussion questions and conversation with guest experts, we will break down the book chapter by chapter and provide an accessible entry point into the positionality and themes of the Black Lives Matter movement. There will be additional episodes released as well that delve into broader social justice subjects in order to supplement the dialogue in the main episodes. The podcast will run for 12 main episodes and 12 supplemental episodes in fall semester 2020.
The podcast is designed, produced and hosted by Academic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ADEI) staff. The objective is to adapt the conversations around the book into an online format, with opportunity for students, faculty and staff to engage with critical self-reflection after episodes are released. Sign up for our newsletter to access the reflection questions and other resources for social justice and antiracism. You will gain familiarity and understanding with cultural competence through this podcast. Listeners can reach out to staff at ADEI with questions or concerns.
