Guidelines for COTS 2020 Presenters

This year’s conference will be online via Zoom webinar. Like before, COTS 2020 is a single-room conference with no concurrent sessions and there will be a Zoom webinar link for each session. Keynotes will have separate links as they will also be open to the general public. All events will be accessible through the conference schedule.

Panel Quick Facts

  • Each panel is 1 hour and 15 minutes in length.
  • There are 3 – 4 papers per panel and a Q&A portion.
  • Each presenter has 12 – 15 minutes.
  • Pre-recorded presentations are due November 5.

Live Presentations

  • Each presenter has 12 – 15 minutes.
  • Please make sure to test all links and sound files prior to the conference.
  • Please join the Zoom webinar event 10 minutes prior to your panel so that we can test the screen sharing, sound, and other features of your presentation.
  • Live presentations will be through Zoom webinar and each presenter will be given ‘presenter’ status during the panel.

Pre-recorded Presentations

Pre-recorded presentations will be accessible to registered attendees via the COTS 2020 conference website. Viewers and attendees will be able to interact with the pre-recorded presentation through a ‘send a question or comment’ feature for each video. Pre-recorded presentations will also be advertised before and after related panels to encourage viewing and attendee interactions.

Checklist for Recordings

  • The video 12 – 15 minutes in length.
    • All video submissions longer than 15 minutes will not be accepted.
  • All links and sound files are functional prior to recording your presentation.
  • Preferred contact email address is included in your presentation to be used in the ‘send a question or comment’ feature on our conference website.
  • Submit recording by November 5.

Step 1: Record Your Presentation

If you are using PowerPoint, you can record your presentation and convert it into a video.

How to record a PowerPoint presentation

  • Make sure that your microphone is on before recording.
  • Please consider turning on the camera with speaker view for your presentation.

How to convert a PowerPoint presentation recording into a video:

  • Select File
  • Choose Export
  • Choose Create a Video
  • Select Full HD
  • Click Create Video

This process may take a few minutes, please do not close your PowerPoint file until the process is finished.

Step 2: Submit your video presentation by November 5
