Phase One - The International Garden (complete)
With the help of students, staff and community members, phase one of the garden was successfully completed in 2015. The International Garden features several types of peppers, legumes, tomatoes and leafy greens and is intended to provide our international students with a little taste of home.
Phase Two - Wild Edibles (in progress)
Phase two of the garden, designed by NIU student Rachel Farrell, will feature the Wild Edibles extension to the garden. The garden will feature a wide variety of native and non-native wild edible plants including asparagus, sunchoke, rhubarb, sorrel, raspberries, wild hyacinth, groundnut and garlic chives. This section of the garden is under development.
Phases Three and Four
Phases Three and Four have been postponed indefinitely. These include the children's garden and the native plant areas.
