The NIU Center for Economic Education helps K-12 teachers guide their students through complex financial landscapes. Learning about economics and personal finance prepares students to make wise decisions as consumers, investors, citizens and participants in the global economy. We deliver teacher workshops and sponsor student activities designed to improve competencies in financial literacy while improving achievements in reading and mathematics.
The Center Offers
- Credit and non-credit professional development programs that enable teachers to incorporate economics into their classroom activities.
- Consultations with educators who wish to incorporate economic education across the curriculum at all grade levels.
- Support for economic and financial literacy programs such as The Stock Market Game™, Rockonomix and Economics Challenge.
