Academic Advising

In the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, you’ll have an academic advisor to assist you from the first day you schedule classes until the day you graduate. Your professional or faculty advisor can help you plan your course schedule, advise you on electives, direct you to university resources and help you with registration.

You’ll be assigned to a professional advisor in the Central Advising Office (CAO) if:

  • You’re with one of the engineering departments and have not yet earned a C or better in MATH 230 (Calculus II).
  • You’re with the technology department and have not yet earned a C or better in MATH 155 (Trigonometry).
  • You’re an undecided engineering or engineering technology student.

Otherwise, you’ll be assigned to a faculty advisor.

Central Advising Office (CAO): Professional Advisors

The professional advisors in the Central Advising Office will provide you with academic advising services as you work toward completing the math requirements necessary to transition to a faculty advisor. Your advisor will help you:

  • Plan the required courses within your major.
  • Create a degree path.
  • Guide your understanding of university, college and department requirements.
  • Review your Academic Requirement Reports.

Department Advising: Faculty Advisors

Your faculty advisor will play a critical role in your success. Our faculty are industry specialists who extend their expertise outside the classroom through mentorship and academic advising. Your faculty advisor will provide a depth of knowledge in your technical area of study as they guide your academic and professional growth.
