A set of six Burmese bamboo black and red lacquer saucers. 20th century. Small (plate and saucers) to be combind with the bowls (BC2004.2.10 a-e) with same décor or red and yellow with black background in innter plate. On the outside following the edge regular red circles with yellow circles with a freeze of arch ending with flowers. The base is a plain red glossy finish. A set of six black and silver lacquer saucers made out of split bamboo strips that have been coiled and overlapped to produce the circular plate. Their covered with different thin coats of lacquer (thayo) which helps hold the bamboo strips in plate. The middle of the plate is a chinthe surrounded by circular floral design. The circles of the whole composition is bordered in the deepest part. The rim of the plates the circles are simple arches with one or three dots per flower. (Set goes with BC2004.2.28a-f
