Course Quota

Why am I receiving email every day stating that my course is over quota?

Every Blackboard course at NIU has a soft limit of 2 GB of storage space for course materials. The system automatically sends email when your course approaches the limit. You can either request that the course be increased to a higher quota or remove files to decrease the size of the course. You can also use your personal Content Collection storage space for large files. Your Content Collection quota is 10 GB and can be increased for free in 5 GB increments.

Why can't I add materials to my course? I get an error that says that I have exceeded my course quota.

Every Blackboard course at NIU has a soft limit of 2 GB of storage space for course materials. Blackboard will not allow you to add materials to your course if the file would put the course over the limit. You can either request that the course be increased to a higher quota or remove files to decrease the size of the course. You can also use your personal Content Collection storage space for large files. Your Content Collection quota is 10 GB and can be increased for free in 5 GB increments.

How much storage space does my Blackboard course have?

Blackboard courses at NIU have unlimited storage. However, each course has a soft limit of 2 GB of storage space for course materials. If more storage space is needed, the quota can be increased in 1GB increments by submitting a CAR form request. There is no charge to increase the course quota.
