Mobile Robotics

This area of research involves the design and development of mobile robots for various purposes. In addition to entertaining, mobile robots play an important role towards homeland security and also for performing tasks in hazardous environments where the presence of human beings is not acceptable by today's standard. Some of these situations can be listed as handling of hazardous materials, de-mining tasks, collecting samples from hazardous locations (such as volcanoes) and inspecting suspicious locations. Professor Azad became involved with mobile robotics in 1996 while working at the University of Portsmouth, UK. His specializations in mobile robotics research are in the areas of navigation and control.
