Preventing Sexual Violence In Higher Education Task Force

This task force provides insight and ideas to help ensure NIU is in compliance with the guidelines established in the Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act.

Coordinated Community Response Team

The Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) grew out of a grant we received for a program to reduce sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking on campus. The CCRT consists of individuals who work closely with victims. They have a wide range of experience, education and knowledge in the areas of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, violence prevention, trauma and law enforcement. The three focus areas of the grant are:

  • Coordinated response: This committee will focus on how to respond effectively to reports of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking.
  • Advocacy and victim services: This committee will focus on working directly with victims/survivors to ensure a trauma-informed, victim-centered approach to care.
  • Violence prevention: This committee will focus on techniques and strategies for preventing relationship violence on campus and the surrounding areas.

DeKalb County Sexual Assault Response Team

The Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is facilitated by Safe Passage, DeKalb County's sexual assault and rape crisis center. The team helps survivors through the maze of community services available to them, and uses the experiences of survivors to improve those services.
