An affirmative action plan is used by organizations to create equal employment opportunities for current and prospective employees. The plan contains steps the organization can take to promote the employment and advancement of underrepresented applicants. NIU is required by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to have an affirmative action plan.
Our office manages the university's affirmative action plan. The plan is a tool that helps establish fair access to employment opportunities, in order to create a workforce that accurately reflects the demographics of the qualified available workforce in the relevant job market. We provide tools to help recruit, hire and promote qualified women, minorities, veterans and individuals with disabilities.
