Philippine Youth Leadership Program (PYLP) Information

Applicants who have family members (father, mother, sister or brother) and cousins within the first degree of consanguinity who have participated in any U.S. Department of State sponsored grants may be subject to disqualification.

Criteria for Youth Applicants

  • Demonstrated leadership skills; must be at least 15 years old by April 7, 2018 and not more than 17 years old by May 4, 2018
  • Active in community service and in outreach or related activities
  • Good academic performance
  • Will attend the program's Follow-on Activities
  • Can speak, read and write in English
  • Character references and letter of institutional endorsement and support
  • No previous significant travel to the U.S. on a U.S. government-sponsored program.

Criteria for Adult Applicants

Preferably high school teachers, administrators and/or NGO or community leaders working with youth who have demonstrated interest in environmental advocacy, and who are not over 35 years old by April 7, 2018.

  • Active in environment-related activities or community outreach projects
  • Active in projects related to training youth to be responsible citizens
  • Will attend the program's Follow-on Activities
  • Good English language skills
  • Character references and letter of institutional endorsement and support
  • No previous significant travel to the U.S. on a U.S. government-sponsored program

Applications must be submitted by mail or email (with forms and all attachments scanned) to the regional coordinator on or before November 25, 2017.

Shortlisted applicants will be directly notified of the date and location of the final interview.
