Donald Peterson, Ph.D. is the dean of the NIU College of Engineering and Engineering Technology. An accomplished researcher with degrees in aerospace, mechanical and biomedical engineering, Peterson joined the college in July 2017. He previously held faculty and administrative positions at Texas A&M University-Texarkana and the University of Connecticut.
Joining Peterson in leading the college are senior associate dean for research and graduate programs Mansour Tahernezhadi, Ph.D., P.E., and Abul Azad, Ph.D., the associate dean, undergraduate academic affairs, outreach and diversity.
All three are excited to lead the college as it is poised to play an important role in influencing economic development of our region by providing education, training and research opportunities in engineering and engineering technology.
