TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I believe that learning involves constructing individual meanings about the world, as we interpret our experiences in particular situations. As learners, we act toward things on the basis of what meanings we place upon them, and such meanings are derived and interpreted through our interactions (direct and indirect) with the instructional content, peers, the instructor, and our environment. I strive to create engaging, interactive, and constructive learning experiences accessible to all which provide learners the opportunity to collaboratively build their knowledge.

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Served in a variety of instructional design, technical, instructional, and managerial roles where skills were developed in the following areas:

Over 12 years experience working with computers as tools for learning
Over 8 years instructional design experience
Over 8 years experience using Blackboard™ as a student, instructor, and developer
Over 8 years administrative experience managing paid and volunteer staff
Over 5 years leadership experience directing the development of an online ministry development certificate program
5 years experience developing and offering training programs and consultations for faculty on the Blackboard™ course management systems and assisting faculty with online teaching and related needs
Knowledge of current and potential uses for new technologies for student learning
Ability to plan, organize, and deliver faculty development programs on a range of teaching with technology topics
Knowledge of and experience in developing HTML
