Ms. Bowman is a Ph.D. candidate in English, with a graduate certificate in Women's Studies, at NIU. She is currently working on her dissertation, which will explore adaptations of John Webster's early-17th-century theatrical female characters over the centuries in novels, films, other plays, etc. Her other research interests at the moment include a paper exploring feminist connections between Joanna Russ's science fiction and Cindy Sherman's photography. Ms. Bowman has taught at the college level for four years, including classes on grammar, literature, composition, and feminist theory. This is her second year as a Women's Studies teaching assistant.
