Elizabeth Bowman is in her fourth year of studying for her Ph.D. in the Department of English. Her field is Renaissance drama, with a focus on gender portrayals in the adaptation history of John Webster: Webster's masterpiece The Duchess of Malfi itself, Lewis Theobald's eighteenth-century reinterpretation The Fatal Secret, and Mike Figgis's prismatic 2001 film Hotel. She is also completing a Women's Studies graduate certificate. She received her B.A. in English from Wheaton College. She has three years experience teaching courses such as literature and first-year composition at NIU and elsewhere.
