Flyer for Marissa McGrath Event

NIU alum (2006) Marissa McGrath returns to campus to talk about her small business, The Good Time Girls, which provides historical walking tours of Bellingham, WA. This pioneer town boasted legally regulated prostitution for 90 years, inspiring the Good Time Girls to write a tour to explore their community's relationship with sex work. During her talk, Marissa will discuss how to research similar stories in your own community and how to mold these tales into a narrative to be used in the creative medium of your choice. She will discuss the challenges of re-writing history and engaging audiences with varied perspectives. Finally, Marissa is excited to come back to campus to share how her experiences at NIU “made all of (her) Good Time Girls dreams possible.”
