The Mothers Memorial Scholarship Fund honors those who are or act as mothers to members of the NIU community by providing scholarships to upper division and graduate students at NIU whose current activities and career goals include improving the lives of women.
Eligibility:
1. Juniors and seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or graduate students with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
2. Juniors, seniors, or graduate students who have completed a minimum one year at NIU.
3. Students with outstanding university activities, volunteer service, or jobs dedicated to improving the lives of women; students who have taken courses preparing them for careers in improving the lives of women.
4. Demonstrated goals that include education, research, advocacy, support, or policy-making to improve the lives of women.
To apply:
1. Pick up an application in the Women's Studies office in Reavis Hall, room 103, or download the application in Word or PDF format.
2. NIU transcript, including transfer credits if applicable.
3. Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from someone in the NIU community.
4. List of any relevant courses taken.
5. List of related activities, volunteer service, or jobs.
6. Statement summarizing how the student hopes to improve the lives of women. Maximum: 2 pages, double spaced.

Other:
1. Recipients will be chosen to represent the diverse disciplines and populations at NIU.
2. All scholarships will be awarded for one academic year.
3. In the event a recipient withdraws from the university, the remaining funds allocated for the scholarship shall be granted to another qualified student.
