  • Wm. R. "Buddy" Avila won the Women and Gender Studies Program Award, sponsored by Central Michigan University's (CMU) Women and Gender Studies Program for the best paper related to women's history, history of sexuality, or gender studies, for his paper, “Adult Comics: HIV/AIDS and Popular American Comic Books of the 1980’s,” which he presented at the International Graduate Historical Studies Conference at CMU. Congratulations, Buddy!
  • Congratulations to WOMS alum Jason Wilkins, who passed the Illinois Bar Exam! Jason is a former WOMS teaching assistant and was the first student to complete the Graduate Certificate in Law & Women's Studies. Way to go, Jason!
  • Congratulations to WOMS & LGBT Studies Graduate Certificate student Rhiannon Catherwood, whose article, "Coming In: The Evolution of the Transsexual Memoir in the Twenty-first Century," will be published in Genre: Forms of Discourse and Culture."
  • We are excited to report that Marissa McGrath's business continues to grow. She and her business partner are opening their first brick-and-mortar store, which will allow them to expand their business and offer their tours year-round.
