Selfless Saturdays

Join us on the second Saturday of each month for bagels, coffee, and a little dose of do-goody-ness as we partner with several organizations in the DeKalb community for different volunteer activities. WI$E-UP: Financial Planning for Gen X Women

Women, it’s time to Wi$e Up, and get your money right! Join us on Mondays for this eight-week series on raising your financial IQ. This series will cover topics like, budgeting basics, using credit wisely, paying yourself first, and many more. Come with your lunch and leave with some ways to create a solid financial future.

Transgeneration Movie & Discussion Series

What is it like to be a man trapped in a woman's body? How does a woman become a man? Transgeneration is a mesmerizing eight-part series that looks at four college students who are juggling the challenges of academia and the struggle to be themselves by changing their bodies to fit their minds. Meet Gabbie, Lucas, Raci, and T.J. as they blow up stereotypes while they come to terms with their deeply misunderstood identities.

Who’s To Blame? Is it the Hip Hop Game?

Imus, Young Joc, Khia, or Plies? What's the difference? What do you see when you watch hip hop videos or listen to the lyrics in hip hop music - talent or degrading words? What’s the impact of these lyrics on women? What is their impact on men? SPEAKER will discuss hip hop lyrics and how hip hop culture affects us all.

Northern is a very diverse community, including women who come from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Brought to you by the Women’s Rights Alliance, Take Back the Night is an annual event designed to unify women, men and children in an awareness of violence against women, children and families. Together with the campus community, Women’s Rights Alliance invites all students and student organizations to a march, rally and celebration of women’s right to be safe – day and night.

Most women know a friend, co-worker or family member who has been affected by interpersonal violence. In light of the many high-profile news stories on relationship violence in recent months, we invite faculty and staff to attend this event designed to educate women and help stop the cycle of violence.

Girl Talk: How to Talk to a Friend about Dating Violence

Do you know a friend who is in a controlling or abusive relationship and want to help them? Do you suspect a friend is in a bad relationship but you’re not sure about it? Do you want to be prepared to help a friend who isn’t sure how to get out of a bad situation? If so, join the WRC and Safe Passage for a session on how to safely help a friend in need.
