One of the most important parts of retooling any website is analyzing and reconfiguring the navigation on a department's existing site to make it easier for users to find the information they are seeking.
Steps:
- Analyze the web logs to form some conclusions about visitors and what they are looking for.
- Evaluate existing navigation and links on each of the pages on your site.
- Create new audience and left-navigation categories for the site.
- Sort the existing links from your site into the new navigation categories.
