Message from the Vice Provost

Dr. Anne L. Birberick - Vice ProvostWelcome to the Office of the Vice Provost! We invite you to explore our website to discover the numerous ways in which we serve undergraduate students at NIU.

To meet the complex challenges of the 21st century, all students—regardless of their major, career path or individual goals—need a strong educational foundation. NIU’s baccalaureate programs provide just such a foundation through the importance they accord to the “3 Cs”: Communication, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. The Office of the Vice Provost works with the academic colleges to advance curriculum enhancement and facilitate student learning outcomes as well as to promote undergraduate research and artistry.

Another key role of the Vice Provost’s office is to provide the necessary infrastructure and services to ensure that each student has the opportunity to enjoy an enriched educational experience.

We firmly believe that an engaged student has a greater potential to achieve the academic success necessary to a timely graduation and a lifetime of continued learning and informed citizenship.
