The Unity in Diversity Steering Committee has diversity programmatic funding available for Northern Illinois University departments and Student Association recognized student organizations. The Committee’s charge is to encourage the development and implementation of programs that expand the knowledge base and understanding regarding diverse cultures for the campus community. Please keep the following in mind when submitting your request:
ü The Committee encourages collaborative programs that have a broad funding base and priority will be given to proposals that show other forms of sponsorship.
ü Each student organization and department is eligible to receive funding from the UID Steering Committee for only one program per academic year.
ü Approved funding (i.e. transfer of funds) will always be released following program completion.
ü Program evaluation is a requirement for funding. A program evaluation MUST be attached to the proposal form in order to be considered by the Committee.
ü Additionally, following the event, copies of the completed program evaluations MUST be submitted to the UID Steering Committee before funds will be transferred.
ü Funding priority will be given to student organizations that have been through Dialogue on Diversity training each academic year.
All student developed programs will be eligible for recognition consideration at the annual Diversity and Equity Awards Gala. The awards program is held in April.
You will find a copy of the program proposal form to the left. Please feel free to duplicate and distribute this document to any who might qualify and have interest in planning a program. Electronic versions of the document can be requested by email from Shirley Mashare at smashare@niu.edu.
Funding is limited, and funding proposals are only accepted twice each semester for consideration, so if you have a program idea, we encourage you to submit your proposal soon!
Best wishes,
