Welcome to 17 Tolbiac, the back of an old apartment building in Paris with a set of windows for each apartment that reveal more than they conceal. If we were seated in mid-air, opposite them, what would we see? All sorts of goings-on, no doubt, but perhaps also the first stirrings of a community that hasn’t grasped that it is one.

This tribute to the exceptional transparency of French windows is dedicated to everyone who has ever been on the outside looking in.
