Complimentary Ticket Policy


All School of Theatre and Dance faculty and staff can receive two complimentary tickets to each show; any additional tickets will require further approval. A pre-approved list of faculty and staff will be available in the Stevens Building Box Office (815-7853-1600) or by contacting the marketing director (815-753-1337).

In addition, the following positions for each production will receive a limit of two complimentary tickets:

  • Scenic, Costume, Lighting, Sound, and Properties Designers
  • Choreographer
  • Music Director
  • Composer

NO complimentary tickets will be provided to the cast or unapproved crew members.

Complimentary Ticket Request Form

To make sure every ticket request is filled to the best of our ability, all complimentary ticket requests will now be submitted in writing. The form is available at the box office and online via link below.

The best seats available at that time will be selected. If the seats you have requested are not available for that performance, you will receive an e-mail informing you. If you know well in advance, then please make your requests “the earlier the better” to ensure that you get the number of tickets you need and located in the house where you wish. This procedure will make be more efficient and cost effective for the box office to process your requests, get you the seats that you want, and conform to university accounting protocols.

Deadline for Complimentary Ticket Requests

All requests for complimentary tickets must be made during normal business hours, 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at least 24 hours in advance of the night you wish to attend.No complimentary tickets will be processed or issued on the night of, or during, a show. No one in the box will be allowed to do it, and the box office staff will not have access to the computer function that can produce them at those times.

Picking up Your Tickets

The tickets will be placed into Will Call and can be picked up the night of the performance one hour before curtain. If the tickets are not picked up by ten minutes before curtain, your complimentary tickets may be released for sale.

Sold Out Shows

If a house is sold out and no complimentary seating remains, no house seats will automatically be made available to faculty, staff, theatre majors or students. The house seats will not be released by anyone but the house manager on duty and only after they have determined that they no longer need them to correct ticketing or seating issues. These set-asides will also be locked out of the system. Once any remaining house seats are released, they are re-sold or issued as comps on a first-come, first-serve basis.
