William Ian Auld currently serves as the Operations Manager and Flying Directors for Hall Associates Flying Effects, a company that specializes in flying performers and specialized rigging effects for live entertainment. He is one of an estimated 200 people in the world today who designs, rigs and executes performer flying effects for circuses, theater and live events. In 2009 he earned his Rigging: Theater ESTA certification.

Professionally he has worked the Technical Director for the Lookingglass Theater Company in Chicago and as the Venue Technician for the Forum Theater at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego. His work as a Stage Technician and Flying Director has lead to him working throughout the United States. Broadway credits include Technical Director of the Off-Broadway production of Lookingglass Alice, and the tour of Disney's Tarzan.

In 2004 he was a performer rigger and one of only two English speaking members on the Asian tour of Peter Pan, a production of Dae Jung Productions in conjunction with ZFX Flying Effects. With his job at Hall Associates, Mr. Auld has gone on to work in Hong Kong, Taipei, Mexico, Panama, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Norway and more. He has also worked as a theater technician in the UK, France and Canada.

Prior to all this work in theater, however, Mr. Auld spent several happy years of his life jumping out of perfectly good airplanes with the United States Army Airborne Corps Special Operations; Airborne.
