Theatre Camps

Weeklong summer sessions for students (Theatre Arts Camp Junior for grades 6-9 and Theatre Arts Camp Senior for grades 10-12) interested in learning more about producing live theatre are sponsored by the College of Visual and Performing Arts and taught by faculty, alumni, guest artists, and graduate and undergraduate students of the School of Theatre and Dance at Northern Illinois University.

Campers enjoy a week packed with theatre activities that include production rehearsals, daily workshops, acting classes, theatre games, and improvisation exercises. Every camper receives coaching to help them reach their theatrical goals and to exercise that aspect of theatre that most interest them. The evenings are reserved for a variety of recreational and theatre-related activities. Evening and overnight supervision is provided by counselors.

The week of training culminates in a live theatre performance for an invited audience. This year's theme is Putting it Together.
