The NIU Math Placement Exam is required of students pursuing particular academic majors. Refer to the New Student Testing Brochure available online at www.niu.edu/testing to determine if you need to take this exam. This exam may be taken on NIU's DeKalb, IL main campus as a paper/pencil exam. Refer to the Current Testing Schedule available online at www.niu.edu/testing for on campus test dates and locations.
Students also have the option instead to take the Math Accuplacer exam at any of the following community colleges. Examination times, availability, and fees will vary between schools. When contacting these colleges, identify yourself as an NIU student needing to take the NIU Math Accuplacer exam. The exam administered off-campus is a computer-based exam and test scores are available immediately following the exam. If these locations are not convenient, contact NIU Office of Testing Services (815-753-1203 or testing@niu.edu) for additional options including inquiries to take the exam at other community colleges and high schools.
Please note: The Math Placement Exam may only be taken ONE time, whether taking the paper/pencil version at the DeKalb campus or the Math Accuplacer off-campus.
