"Being an officer at SWE gives me the opportunity to spread awareness of women in engineering.  I am able to reach out to young girls and show them that being an engineer is a fun and interesting profession.  I believe it is important to help women stay professionally connected."

"I want to grow professionally, as I stay connected to SWE.  I want to have a job, where I can change the future of technology.  I also want to stay involved in my community where I can raise awareness of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and change the lives of young children."

"I wanted to be an officer for SWE because I genuinely believe in SWE's goals.  I feel like many times girls are only told they can be teachers or nurses.  I had rarely heard about engineering growing up and thought it had a negative, 'dorky' connotation.  I think it is important for girls to see engineering in a different light and know how amazing it can be."

"I like how open my future is currently.  Engineering gives you so many opportunities; there are no limits on where I'll end up.  All i know, is that I want to work somewhere where I can feel that I am helping others and having a positive impact on the world."

"I wanted to become an officer in SWE for a chance to stand out in a male dominated field.  I took the challenge of becoming an officer and love every minute.  Being able to give back to the community is something that I am really passionate about.  I want to use school to better myself, but also, to better the people around me.  Through SWE and the outreach that they do, I will be able to achieve that goal."

"I am happy with what my future holds.  I entered into a new degree program that NIU was offering because it presented the leading edge in technology and in the job market.  I want to be able to use my knowledge to save energy, optimize existing technology, and better the ways that we do things in business."

"I wanted to become a SWE officer because I believe it is very important for women to support other women in a male-saturated industry.  I also want to be a positive influence for other women and encourage them into choosing STEM related majors/careers."

"In the future I want to work with orthopaedic implants and prosthetics.  I would like to eventually obtain a master's degree and possibly a docoral degree."
