American College and University President's Climate Commitment (ACUPCC)

ACUPCC is an initiative is led by Professor Reed Scherer, Distinguished Research Professor, Department of Geology and Environmental Geosciences, in association with the Institute for the Study of the Environment, Sustainability, and Energy.

Following President Baker's signing of the commitment, Professor Scherer circulated a call for participation in the ACUPCC assessment process, to include faculty, administration and students, including undergraduates and graduates. The Vice President for Research agreed to support a summer graduate assistantship (20 hrs/wk) for one student in 2014 and one in 2015. All other participation is voluntary.

A graduate student in Industrial Systems Engineering has been hired and will lead a team of students to develop energy use assessments on campus, work that is already underway. ACUPCC is working to broaden the committee to include community leaders, alumni, donors, and more.
