Will and Bert

SummerNITE presented the Chicago premiere of WILL AND BERT: A CELEBRATION OF EPIC THEATRE. This entertainment ,directed by Artistic Director Christopher Markle, intertwines the words, wit and worlds of William Shakespeare and Bertolt Brecht. It also celebrates the artistic collaboration between Brecht and composer Kurt Weill, whose centennial is currently being observed around the world.

WILL AND BERT features scenes from a number of plays and poems including JULIUS CEASAR, HAMLET, THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR, AS YOU LIKE IT, MACBETH, MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN and THE GOOD PERSON OF SETZUAN. The music and lyrics are taken from THE THREE PENNY OPERA and THE RISE AND FALL OF THE CITY OF MAHOGONNY.
