Greetings prospective and current students, staff and friends of NIU! Student Support Services is a federally-funded program from the U.S. Department of Education that is designed to assist and support undergraduate students who are first generation, low income, or learning/physically disabled. We currently serve 300 undergraduates.
Our purpose is to provide services that will help students persist and graduate from NIU. We also assist with the transition to employment or graduate/professional school. The types of services we offer are: individual academic, career and personal counseling, involvement with specific student groups, special recognition, group workshops, a computer lab, courses taught for credit, and special cultural events and outings.
As you investigate our website, you will see all the cool trips we go on and events we attend. An application for our program is available on the website to print, fill out, and mail.
Should you have questions or comments, please contact our general number, 815-753-1142, or contact any of our staff members. We are enthusiastically awaiting your call!
