Student Involvement & Leadership Development is focused on finding ways to unite the NIU campus through service by giving back to our campus and surrounding communities. We are encouraging our students to participate in events that collect canned foods and beverages, which help to emphasize that we can make a difference. Please join us in this year-long campaign to help our campus make a difference!

Tabs Can Make a Difference!
Join our campus-wide can tab collection drive. Collection started during Homecoming (October 7th - 13th, 2012) and will continue through May 2013. Tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House to help support their wonderful program. Let’s try to get 1 million tabs and have NIU become a part of their ‘Thanks a Million’ Club!
Huskies Can Build It!
During Homecoming of 2013, we will be holding a competition of epic proportions! Teams will come together and build structures from canned goods that they collect leading up to the event. All of the cans gathered will be donated to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
Please keep this event in mind throughout the year. Rules and Registration for the event will be available at a later date.
