The transition from high school to college can be extremely difficult—not only academically but socially. Our goal is to make this transition easier. How? By creating Huskie Camp—a two-day, first-year student transition program. At camp, students learn about campus life, become active members of the NIU community, and make lifelong friends.
Huskie Camp will occur at the end of August on the NIU Lorado Taft Campus near Oregon, Illinois. Camp will be led by faculty members and students who are committed to making the first year at NIU the best it can be. Campers will get to know each other as they participate in team-building activities, go on outdoor adventures, learn about diversity, and discover NIU traditions.
With your help, students will not begin college as lone freshmen. They'll begin as Huskies!
