The two task forces met at 9 am in 203 Altgeld Hall. Douglass announced that after the task force discussions, members of the task forces were invited to join Dr. George Kuh (Indiana University) for lunch in 315 Altgeld as well as his 1:30 to 3:30 pm presentation in the Barsema Visitor and Alumni Center. Furthermore, the next scheduled meeting (April 4) will begin with a 9-10 am presentation from Joe Matty and Mallory Simpson. They will discuss how the Feb. 14 event has impacted fundraising at NIU.
After announcements, Dr. George Kuh (Indiana University) gave an hour long presentation that focused on many issues faced by both task forces. The presentation was well received and the question/answer session continued to about 10:30 am. At that time the two task forces separated with members of the curricular innovation task force meeting in room 225 Altgeld.
Two subgroups (general education and the merged capstone experience/engaged learning/honors program group) of the Curricular Innovation task force met and discussed the strategies/initiatives that Changnon had prepared based on the subgroup workshops. The subgroup discussions lasted approximately an hour before breaking up for lunch with Dr. Kuh.
The Student Success Task Force worked as a large group and discussed proposals from the Campus Climate subgroup, the Impacted Majors subgroup and the Advising subgroup. Vice Provost Cassidy joined the group for the discussion which lasted approximately one hour.
