Develop 2 strategic graduate assistantships

  • The Great Journeys Graduate Assistantship
  • Funding Under/graduat e Engaged Learning (FUEL) Supplement Assistantship
  • provide faculty applicants a graduate assistant capable of contributing to the faculty member’s efforts to conduct preliminary research or artistic endeavors and otherwise prepare an application for external funding of their research or artistic projects
  • Attract doctoral students to NIU who might not otherwise have attended. The program provides highachieving students nominated by their program faculty supplemental assistantship funding
  • 13 Great Journeys Assistantships awarded
  • 4 two-year FUEL assistantships awarded

  • 13 new nine-month GA stipends paid at the average for their discipline funded for FY11
  • 4 new 2-year GA’s funded for students considering graduate studies at other institutions
