Activities for Scout and Youth Groups

STEMfest offers several opportunities for scouting and youth groups to get involved, learn new concepts, explore STEM careers, and earn patches.

Girl Scounts' Passport to My Future

Many careers of the 21st century will require skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).  NIU STEM Outreach invites Girl Scouts to have fun at STEMfest while exploring possibilities for the future.

Girl Scouts who participate can receive an embroidered “Passport to my Future” activity patch by completing their choice of activities in each of the STEM areas and recording their experiences in a passport form.

Girls who have already earned a patch can bring or wear it and earn a VISA* patch for this year's activities. (*Very Informed STEMfest Alumna).

Girls will have their photo taken, and through the wonders of digital photo processing will take home a photo as a scientist or engineer.

Boy Scouts and Youth Group Patches

Anyone interested in earning a patch can sign up at the Scoutingpatches and Youth Group table during STEMfest. For a small donation, participants will be given a worksheet of activities to complete as they explore the fest. When finished, participants can return to the table and receive their choice of STEM patches.
