Activities for Scout and Youth Groups

STEMfest offers several opportunities for scouting and youth groups to get involved, learn new concepts, explore STEM careers, and earn patches.

Many careers of the 21st century will require skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).  NIU STEM Outreach invites Girl Scouts to have fun at STEMfest while exploring possibilities for the future.

Girl Scouts' Passport to My Future

STEMfest Passport Patch for Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts who participate can receive an embroidered “Passport to my Future” activity patch by completing their choice of activities in each of the STEM areas and recording their experiences in a passport form. As part of their activities, girls will have their photo taken, and through the wonders of digital photo processing will take home a photo as a professional in one of several STEM careers.

Boy Scouts and Youth Group Patches STEMfest Scout Path

Anyone interested in earning a patch should find the Scout and Youth Group table to obtain a worksheet of activities to complete as they explore the fest. When finished, participants can return to the table and purchase their choice of STEM patches.

Everyone

Patches are available at a cost of $2.00 for the large patches, and $1 for the small circular disciplinary and rectangular alumnae patches for students who complete this year's activities.
