The NIU STEM Outreach program is growing, and so is our need for volunteers to help with projects and events. 

Opportunities to Help

STEMfest - Every October

Our largest on-campus event requires hundreds of volunteers to make the day a success.  Wield a hammer or sling some slime.  Come in costume, or not, and help more than 4000 visitors learn to love science.

There are plenty of jobs to go around, whether or not your major is in science.

• Staffing the event

STEMfest 2012 Volunteer Registration is Open!

We count on volunteers like you to provide a positive experience for everyone who participates in STEMfest.  Last year’s student volunteers were highly rated on exit surveys, and we hope to continue to exceed expectations again this year. 

Students volunteering to work at a specific group or organization's table should register through that organization and not this page. A short orientation meeting will be held on Friday, October 19, at 7 p.m.  Pizza and soda will be served, and parking and meal vouchers will be distributed.

To volunteer, contact Pati Sievert at psievert@niu.edu with “volunteer” as the subject.  In the body of the email, state your name, major, and how you would like to volunteer.  Also include information on days or evenings you are available and how much time you are willing to contribute; i.e., 4 hours per week or 2 days per semester.
