WYSE, Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering
The Academic Challenge is a competitive series of tests created and administered by Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering and offered to high school students. The test material is drawn from senior high school and freshman college level curriculum.
Subjects include biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, mathematics, and physics.
Students compete as individuals and as part of a school team
Students have 40 minutes to complete each multiple-choice test. Student takes two tests of their chosen subjects at the sectional competition.

Schedule for 2018 Sectional Competition
Congratulations on your success at the Regional Competition. We look forward to seeing you on campus for the Sectional Competition. The competition will be held in the Duke Ellington Ballroom in the Holmes Student Center.
There is NO registration fee.
Our schedule for the day will be:
8:00-9:00 a.m. Arrival and Registration
9:00-9:15 a.m. Welcome and Test Instructions
9:15-9:55 a.m. First Test Session
10:10-10:50 a.m. Second Test Session
11:00-1:00 p.m. Lunch**
1:00-1:45 p.m. Awards Presentation (ending 30 minutes earlier than last year)
** We do not provide lunch. However, the Holmes Student Center does have a the Blackhawk Food Court, Subway and Ellingtons. Get more information on HSC restaurants.
Please try to arrive on time. Schools that are late will only be allowed to take the test with the remaining time left. No special accommodations will be given under any circumstance.
Space Limitation/Changes Day of Competition
Because of space limitations at the testing center, we ask that you do not bring alternates to take tests unless one of your regular members is ill (TEAMS ONLY). There will be no acceptance of changes on the day of competition, EXCEPT it will be possible to substitute one student for another, as long as that student takes the same tests that the original student was registered for (TEAMS ONLY). Corrections may also be made on misspelled names and “no shows.”
