Every October, we jam-pack NIU's Convocation Center with creepy, crawly, slimy, sciency fun for the whole family! This gigantic festival celebrates the fun behind Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math!

Readers of all ages can read sci-fi books and then meet for free discussions and hands-on activities at NIU with experts who specialize in the science behind the fiction.

STEM Saturdays

Students in grades 4 and up can sign up for hands-on science sessions that make learning exciting by exploring everything from the inside of household items like vacuum cleaners to the physics of roller coasters. Parents are welcome to attend the classes and join the fun.

STEM Cafés

Adults can join STEM Outreach and STEM experts for discussions on the latest research and groundbreaking discoveries. These casual, fun conversations take place at local restaurants throughout the area. Eat, drink, and feed your mind!

Summer Under the Stars

Families are welcome to NIU's campus throughout the summer to learn about the cosmos with NIU experts and get a closer look at the night sky in NIU's Davis Hall Observatory.
