Facilities

NIU's DeKalb Campus hosts all of the 2012 STEM camps listed above. This allows campers to get a feel for campus life. Campers reside in double rooms on a secure floor in a tower dorm with our counselors. They share the dorm and dining hall with campers from many of NIU's other summer programs. They hike to and from labs, just as they will in college.

Most camp activities occur in laboratories in Faraday Hall and outdoors. Davis Hall Observatory and other science facilities are also used.

Staff

Camp insturctors are experienced classroom teachers and NIU faculty and students who are selected because of their ability DO science. NIU faculty and graduate students work with the high school science research scholars.

Counselors for all sessions are NIU students in the sciences or eduation who enjoy working with young people and having a great time with science. They assist with the sessions as well as lead science-related recreational activities.

Fees

Residential campers $515 ($545 after June 1, 2012); returning LA&S Academic Summer campers, multiple campers from the same household, or NIU employees are eligible for an additional $25 discount on request.
