Luanne Mayorga works in the Division of Outreach, Engagement and Regional Development at Northern Illinois University. She is responsible for the research, development and implementation of economic and workforce development programming throughout the University’s region. Her primary role is directing Springboard, which provides students with opportunities to tackle projects from regional businesses.
Prior to joining NIU, Luanne was the Director of the International Trade Center at College of DuPage. She provided assistance to small and medium sized businesses throughout the Chicago area with exporting their products and/or services to overseas markets and advised clients on a multitude of topics. She had been involved with the Center for Entrepreneurship at COD for seven years and advised over 425 businesses with over 4,800 hours of consulting hours. Her clients achieved increased domestic sales of $13.5 million, export sales of $46 million, and funding of $1.175 million.
Luanne taught numerous college courses in the business and fashion disciplines for over a decade. Currently she is working on her Doctoral degree in Adult & Higher Education at Northern Illinois University. She has Master’s of Business Administration degree with concentrations in Marketing and International Business from Benedictine University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in both Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business from Dominican University.
Justine Bugaoisan is in her final year of law school at Northern Illinois University. She is currently an editor for the Northern Illinois University Law Review and this is her second year as a Graduate Assistant with Springboard. She enjoys the collaborative effort between students and staff that produces opportunities for Springboard Analysts and clients alike. Upon graduation, Justine plans on being a trial lawyer, either as a state’s attorney or defense counsel.
During the summer of 2015, Justine was a law clerk at the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Committee in Chicago. In 2014, she was a judicial intern at the 18th Judicial Circuit Courthouse in DuPage County as well as a legal intern at the Kane County Public Defender’s Office.
Justine is originally from Maryland, about twenty miles South of Washington D.C. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from Stevenson University in Baltimore County, Maryland in 2013.
Michael Ryan Aquino is pursuing a master’s degree in Economics. He started with Springboard as a Research Analyst and is currently a Graduate Assistant for the organization. In April, 2015, Michael received the Outstanding Undergraduate Achievement Award from the College of Economics. He likes the experience he gains with the hands-on approach that Springboard provides to both the students and clients.
Upon graduation, Michael plans on working as an Economist for an economics consulting firm. Eventually he would like to start his own business.
Michael is from the Chicagoland Area, roughly 25 miles from DeKalb. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Northern Illinois University in the spring of 2015. In his spare time, he is an avid video-gamer and works on side projects for his future business with a fellow colleague from the United Kingdom.
Josh Bricker is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He works with Springboard as a Graduate Assistant primarily focusing on Creative Communications. As an undergraduate Josh received the Kevin D. Knight Outstanding Student Leader award in 2012 and 2013 for his efforts to improve communication between student organizations and university officials.
For the past two years Josh has been working in corporate America on the sales team for Fort Dearborn Company. Throughout his tenure, Josh worked on multiple projects with Fortune 500 companies in the food and beverage industry. He also led an integration task force to overcome transition obstacles during the acquisition of AC Label & St. Louis Litho.
Josh is from Libertyville, IL s a suburb of Chicago close to the Wisconsin boarder. He attended Northern Illinois University, and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing in the spring of 2013. Upon graduation from his master’s program Josh plans to head back into corporate America to work as a Management Consultant. In his spare time Josh enjoys playing golf, reading, and watching movies.
Kevin McCarte received a B.S. in Economics from Northern Illinois University in May of 2012 and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree of Business Administration. He works with Springboard focusing on Business Research & Development.
For the past three years Kevin has worked as a price and cost analyst for Smalley Steel Ring Company located in Lake Zurich, Illinois. During this time Kevin had numerous interactions with companies across a large variety of industries. He was the departmental liaison for Caterpillar, John Deere, Roplan Inc. and other large accounts.
Kevin is from Mount Prospect, Illinois and upon receiving his M.B.A. hopes to enter the banking industry to assist in corporate fund management. In his spare time Kevin likes to live an active lifestyle and typically spends his time outdoors hiking, playing sports, and exercising.
