Luanne Mayorga works in the Division of Outreach, Engagement and Regional Development at Northern Illinois University. She is responsible for the research, development and implementation of economic and workforce development programming throughout the University’s region. Her primary role is directing Springboard, which provides students with opportunities to tackle projects from regional businesses.
Prior to joining NIU, Luanne was the Director of the International Trade Center at College of DuPage. She provided assistance to small and medium sized businesses throughout the Chicago area with exporting their products and/or services to overseas markets and advised clients on a multitude of topics. She had been involved with the Center for Entrepreneurship at COD for seven years and advised over 425 businesses with over 4,800 hours of consulting hours. Her clients achieved increased domestic sales of $13.5 million, export sales of $46 million, and funding of $1.175 million.
Luanne taught numerous college courses in the business and fashion disciplines for over a decade. Currently she is working on her Doctoral degree in Adult & Higher Education at Northern Illinois University. She has Master’s of Business Administration degree with concentrations in Marketing and International Business from Benedictine University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in both Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business from Dominican University.
Justine Bugaoisan is in her final year of law school at Northern Illinois University. She is currently an editor for the Northern Illinois University Law Review and this is her second year as a Graduate Assistant with Springboard. She enjoys the collaborative effort between students and staff that produces opportunities for Springboard Analysts and clients alike. Upon graduation, Justine plans on being a trial lawyer, either as a state’s attorney or defense counsel.
During the summer of 2015, Justine was a law clerk at the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Committee in Chicago. In 2014, she was a judicial intern at the 18th Judicial Circuit Courthouse in DuPage County as well as a legal intern at the Kane County Public Defender’s Office.
Justine is originally from Maryland, about twenty miles South of Washington D.C. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from Stevenson University in Baltimore County, Maryland in 2013.
Michael Ryan Aquino is pursuing a master’s degree in Economics. He started with Springboard as a Research Analyst and is currently a Graduate Assistant for the organization. In April, 2015, Michael received the Outstanding Undergraduate Achievement Award from the College of Economics. He likes the experience he gains with the hands-on approach that Springboard provides to both the students and clients.
Upon graduation, Michael plans on working as an Economist for an economics consulting firm. Eventually he would like to start his own business.
Michael is from the Chicagoland Area, roughly 25 miles from DeKalb. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Northern Illinois University in the spring of 2015. In his spare time, he is an avid video-gamer and works on side projects for his future business with a fellow colleague from the United Kingdom.
