Graduate Assistantships

Several types are available within the sociology department and in other units of the university.  Link to application here.

  • Teaching and research assistantships with the department. Stipends are available for the nine-month academic year, plus a tuition waiver scholarship.
  • Administrative and research assistantships in other units of the university. Stipends vary.
  • Research assistantships on funded research projects. Stipends vary.
  • Graduate school fellowships are also available on a competitive basis. Financial support for minorities is available through the Rhoten A. Smith Assistantship Program.

Tuition (including out-of-state tuition is waived for holders of assistantships and fellowships. Grants-in-aid and loans are also available through the Student Financial Aid Office.
