Social Science Research and Learning Lab (SSRLL)

The Sociology Lab provides students with needed space for classes that require specific computer software and offers tutoring for research-based courses. In addition, the Sociology Lab offers supplemental workshops and collaborative research projects designed to enhance students’ classroom experience and assist in developing professional skills.  

The lab was founded in Feb. 1996 by Prof. Charles Cappell with partial support provided by the National Science Foundation, Division of Undergraduate Education, and matching funds from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Northern Illinois University.  

SSRLL supports the teaching of quantitative research skills. Our computer network provides statistical software:

  • SPSS and R
  • HyperResearch
  • MS 365 Office

Monday-Thursday (closed Friday)
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

We are closed on Labor Day and November 22 & 23 (Thanksgiving Break).

The last lab day of the semester is Dec. 14, 2023.
