Become a partner in providing quality education for undergraduate and graduate students. Please consider designating your charitable giving directly to the Department of Sociology. You can make an unrestricted gift for general support of the department or direct your gift for specific uses such as:

  • Need- and merit-based scholarships
  • Graduate teaching assistants-assistantships supported by gifts are matched by a substantial tuition waiver covering 70 percent of educational costs from the university, enhancing the financial value of the gift
  • Sociology Lab (SSRLL) equipment and software needs

Existing Endowed Scholarships and Awards

  • David P. Street Memorial Fund ­– merit-based support for undergraduate sociology major
  • Frances Rowe Katz Award for Graduate Research – assists in research and thesis writing
  • Waldo W. Burchard Award for Graduate Scholarship – merit-based award for highest GPA
  • James L. Massey Social Justice Award – recognizes an undergraduate or graduate student involved in social justice work or community activism
