Call for Papers
Deadline for Submissions: January 15, 2013
The 2013 edition of Ex Medio will be comprised of previously unpublished works of original material, published in an electronic format. This year we will be focusing on a unique aspect of Midwestern culture-The Seasons. As the Midwestern states experience Spring, Winter, Summer and Autum, our publication will reflect our unique regional identity.
This year's publication is open to poetry, flash fiction, and submitted artwork. Submissions will be judged on their own merits, but will also be folded into categories according to Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn. Use the seasons as an inspiration, but do not feel confined to "fitting in" to our publication. Each submission must be contained in a separate, individual e-mail for each item.
Poetry Submissions:
- Must be 12 point, Times New Roman font
- Must be submitted as a Word document (.doc or .docx)
- Will be reviewed and juried by a panel of students and faculty based on criteria such as originality, style, and concept
Artwork Submissions:
- May include color or B&W photography or original artwork
- Must be submitted as a .jpg or similar format
Flash Fiction Submissions:
- Must be 12 point, Times New Roman font
- Must be submitted as a Word document (.doc or .docx)
- Must not exceed 750 words in length
- Will be reviewed and juried by a panel of students and faculty based on criteria such as originality, style, and concept
All submissions:
- Must be previously unpublished
- Must be free from identifying information BUT must be accompanied by an email note including:
Author's name
University affiliation
Chapter name
Sponsor's name
Author's US Postal Service address
Phone number
Include the statement: [title of work] is an original work authored by me.
