Call for Papers: Complete essays or creative works must be submitted by August 15, 2011. Notifications will take place by August 25.
To submit work, email text submissions in Microsoft Word format to Dr. Lexey Bartlett at labartlett@fhsu.edu.
Visual images should be sent in JPEG or PDF format; videos may be sent as MP4 files, and audio files in MP3 format. For large files, email for submission instructions.

Far Western Regional Conference - Pilgrimage West

Call for Papers: Please submit a critical and/or creative piece on any topic. Submissions are limited to one per category, per person. We particularly welcome articles, papers, or creative pieces focusing on the West, or on Natasha Trethewey, author of the 2012 International Convention's Common Reader, Bellocq's Ophelia. Submit papers by September 15, 2011 to sigmatd.fw@gmail.com. You will be notified if your paper has been accepted by October 1, 2011.
Along with panels for readings, the conference will also offer leadership roundtable discussions. The Plenary Speaker will be Dr. Anna Leahy, an expert on Natasha Trethewey.
Chapman University is located in the heart of Southern California, only 10 minutes from Disneyland, 20 minutes from the beaches, and one hour away from Los Angeles.

Last year's conference included over 100 students from some 20 colleges throughout Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin who joined together for a day of student presentations, sessions on graduate school and publishing, lunch, and great hallway conversations.
Fourth Language and Linguistics Student Conference
Date: November 12, 2011, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Location: Nigh University Center, University of Central Oklahoma. Edmond, Oklahoma
Sponsored by the student-centered Language Society in collaboration with the UCO Department of English and English Society, the conference will feature undergraduate and graduate student research in the fields of language and linguistics through papers and presentations by students from national and international institutions.
All presentations, lectures, and discussions are free and open to the public, and community members and UCO students are encouraged to attend.
