Talk to Someone

The University encourages victims/survivors to talk to someone about any incidents of sexual misconduct that has occurred. Talking to someone after a traumatic event is very important to help facilitate the healing process.

The University and DeKalb community provide confidential resources if you have suffered any form of sexual misconduct. Services include confidential counseling and medical services, if needed. If you desire the incident of sexual misconduct be kept completely confidential, but need assistance, you can speak with any of the following persons or offices listed below.

NIU employees, depending on their role, have different abilities to maintain a student’s confidentiality and are considered non-confidential resources and/or a responsible employee. A responsible employee must report to the Title IX Coordinator any disclosed information regarding sexual misconduct. For more information about employee roles and responsibilities, visit Seek Support to determine which employees are confidential.
