Partners in a bright future

NIU is more than Rockford’s public university: NIU is Rockford’s partner in a bright future.

While the Forest City works internally to transform into a thriving, healthy, safe and fulfilling community, NIU stands as a key collaborator in making that happen – as we always have.

Our long commitment to Rockford spurs modern economic development and creates jobs. We’re Rockford’s partner in the crucial aerospace industry, where our faculty expertise influences innovation, productivity and profitability.

Our devotion to preparing Rockford children for higher education and prosperous careers begins with our partners in District 205, where we provide professional development and promote the STEM curriculum necessary for high-tech employment opportunities.

That promise continues with our colleagues at Rock Valley College, where our innovative programs streamline the bachelor’s degree path for future engineers and for students of all directions who plan to transfer.

And with each victory – such as $40,000 in NIU scholarships for Stateline Quiz Bowl champion Auburn High school, or life-changing opportunities awaiting entrepreneurs at the NIU EIGERlab Innovation Network Fast Pitch Competition – we will celebrate.

Just as we always have.
