Welcome To The ROCK Program

ROCK program collage imageIt is a pleasure to welcome you to the homepage of the ROCK Program, a project of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) at Northern Illinois University.  The ROCK Program is a joint research and development project between commercial component fabricators in the Rockford area and Northern Illinois University (NIU) which will draw upon NIU faculty expertise to conduct applied research with commercial team members to enhance their capabilities. By serving as the bridge between NIU faculty and Rockford area companies to facilitate manufacturing research programs, we will help the small companies succeed in the future.

The ROCK Program is located at the EIGERlab facility, a unique national experiment in creating a venue for industry, education, and government to focus on Advanced Manufacturing in Rockford, Illinois.

As Dean of the CEET, I am proud to lead this college, which is poised for tremendous growth.  The college has already grown by 48 percent during the past six years bringing the total student population to more than 1600.  The Engineering Building is a world-class facility with state-of-the-art equipment providing excellent learning opportunities for students as well as serving as an exceptional resource for our industry partners.  I am committed to establishing mutually beneficial partnerships to provide an effective response to the needs of the region.  The college is poised to play an important role to influence economic development of the region by providing education, training, and research opportunities in engineering and technology.

Please contact us if you would like additional information about NIU, the CEET or the ROCK Program.
